My name is Thania A. Betancourt. I am 19 years old.

I like long walks on the beach…

Just kidding. None of that. Well, where do I begin? I rather write about other people’s lives than my own. But here it goes. Bear with me.

My life right now isn’t too shabby. I reside in Phoenix, Arizona and I am a journalism junior at Arizona State University. I am originally from San Francisco and lived there for half of my life. I miss it every single day. I am going to move back after I graduate that is if I find a good writing gig. Oh yes, did I mention I am a writer? I have been writing ever since I can remember. I took a liking to writing when I first moved to the United States from Mexico when I was three years old.  From what my mom tells me I would draw a bunch of circles and lines and yell “Mira mami! Ya puedo escribir en Ingles!”

Translation: “Look ma! I can write in English!”

How wrong was I. It took years of changing my career choice to realize I wanted to be a writer. And, even though I have 17 unprofessional years of writing under my belt, I am starting to build my career as a professional journalist.  However, I don’t limit my writing to solely journalism. I also write short stories and poetry.  Lots and lots of poetry.  I like to say I write enough non-fiction and fiction to keep me sane. Also, I am dabbling in photography as my new way of visual storytelling.  I will post poetry once a week and anything else that comes to mind. This blog’s purpose is to share with people my journey as I continue to grow as a writer and a human being.  Enjoy.
